My name is Angela, and I am a registered dietitian.
I think food, health, compassion and environmental sustainability are all interconnected. As more and more people are also making this connection, they are seeking to improve their eating habits. What a wonderful thing that is, as food does so much more for us than just give us nutrients. Food is something in our lives that brings us together.
Changing our eating habits can seem like a complex process, but it doesn't have to be. I believe in keeping things simple, and taking those steps one at a time.
As a long time vegan, I have a special place in my heart for plant-based nutrition. That is, basing one's diet on whole foods such as vegetables, fruits, grains, beans, nuts and seeds.
I also believe nourishing yourself means so much more than what you eat. To nourish yourself is to practice self care by getting enough sleep, moving your body, managing your stress, and doing things that add value to your life.
